Annex C - Reliability Test
Within this part of the standard is the requirement that “the ventilator shall open, reach its fire open position not more than 60 seconds after actuation without damage and remain in position without an external energy supply (until reset)”.
For this test usually the largest geometric area is tested and the largest side length.
For a vent to be passed as a smoke vent, it only needs 50 strokes to pass the test. However as the Vitral opening panel is classed as a dual purpose ventilator for natural day to day fresh air and smoke ventilation it has actually undergone and passed 10,000 cycles (plus the original 50).
