Fire strategy

This involves the preparation of a fire strategy report which describes:

  • the owner's requests of use and layout
  • the authorities' requirements for how the compliance of the fire requirements must be documented
  • the advisors' fire technical documentation for the building

Fire StrategyIt is important to start early in a construction case in order to decide the fire strategy in the building project. Mistakes, misunderstandings errors and unfortunate solutions can be avoided by using a fire strategy and thereby the fire technical documentation as a tool in the project process.

The Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology recommends: Make a strategy by writing it down in a fire strategy report. Use the report to collect the parties’ requests and requirements.

A fire strategy should contain:

  • The general things about the background and purpose
  • The building's design, use and person load
  • Criteria for acceptance (the authorities' requirements)
  • Inactive fire protection
  • Active fire protection
  • Emergency exit conditions
  • The rescue crew's conditions on the site
  • Operational circumstances (a tool for the fire inspection)
  • A summary of analyses/risk analyses
