Fire strategy
This involves the preparation of a fire strategy report which describes:
-
the owner's requests of use and layout
-
the authorities' requirements for how the compliance of the fire requirements must be documented
-
the advisors' fire technical documentation for the building
It is important to start early in a construction case in order to decide the fire strategy in the building project. Mistakes, misunderstandings errors and unfortunate solutions can be avoided by using a fire strategy and thereby the fire technical documentation as a tool in the project process.
The Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology recommends: Make a strategy by writing it down in a fire strategy report. Use the report to collect the parties’ requests and requirements.
A fire strategy should contain:
- The general things about the background and purpose
- The building's design, use and person load
- Criteria for acceptance (the authorities' requirements)
- Inactive fire protection
- Active fire protection
- Emergency exit conditions
- The rescue crew's conditions on the site
- Operational circumstances (a tool for the fire inspection)
- A summary of analyses/risk analyses
