Sustainability is one of the major topics of the 21st Century. As the earth’s resources are depleted, more and more emphasis is placed on sustainability in the development of, or refurbishment of buildings.
How can VITRAL help? We are concerned not only by the impact of our product on the immediate environment, but a wider environment, where energy reduction and recyclability is key. A building, illuminated by natural light, provides not only a healthier environment, but significantly reduces the use of additional power required for lighting. Roof glazing also provides the benefit of solar gain, a natural heat source, a benefit particularly enhanced in Northern Europe.

The VITRAL roof glazing system is unique. It’s fully integrated opening panels avoid the use of extra frames, thereby reducing the amount of materials required during manufacture. The system is fully recyclable and manufactured without the use of refrigerants. The product is CFC and HCFC free and contains less than 2% PVC. The roof glazing panels are pre-glazed in our factory. This not only avoids the use of extra packaging for separate glass panels, but also reduces the risk of breakage on site and subsequently the need for additional replacement materials.

The VITRAL roof glazing system provides the benefit of natural ventilation, so there is no requirement for high energy consuming air conditioning systems. Natural ventilation can be operated automatically or manually. The VITRAL inspiration system is fully compliant with the new Part L. With a fantastic U-value of around 1.55W/m2K, it actually exceeds the requirement and also fully complies with Part L specifications for air permeability. All requirements for watertightness are also greatly exceeded.
